Ctrl Alt Critique – UFOs in Pop Culture

We have a new episode out! It’s been out for a few days, as a matter of fact. I just did my usual thing of forgetting to hit Publish on the post I’d drafted in prep for it.

Due to our co-host, Ad, being quite poorly in recent weeks, we have had to shake up the format of this episode. Instead of doing our usual film/tv/game review of the week, we instead decided to pick a topic and spend the hour discussing it.

In this episode, Bailey and I dive into the captivating world of UFO sightings, extraterrestrials, and their place within pop culture. We take a look at their roots in ancient times, the increase of alleged sightings in the 19th century, and the eventual boom of this peculiar phenomenon during the 20th century. We also explore some of the theories behind the idea of intelligent life within the universe, as well as how all of this had an impact on pop culture over the ages.

We had a lot of fun developing, recording and editing this episode. Hopefully that passion and joy seeps out in the finished product.

Next week, we’ll be returning to our usual format, as Ad will be returning to help us review the Conjuring 2.

If people enjoy the non-movie, subject approach demonstrated in this episode, then please feel free to let me know. Our show is still very much in the early stages of its development, so we are always looking to find new ways to entertain and engage our audience. Feedback on the things you like and dislike are always welcome.

Enjoy!
